The Independent Venue Roadshow (IVR) provides event professionals the opportunity to meet and research independently owned hotels and venues to add to their little black book.
We were joined on the blog by Justine Meek from the Warwick Conferences in Coventry, who are the host venue of our first IVR of 2019 on the 24th-25th of January. Justine gives us a taste of what you can expect from the event and what it's like to exhibit on the Independent Venue Roadshow.
What do guests say they love most about Warwick Conferences?
Guests love the whole experience – from the first initial contact with our Sales Team through to the support they receive from their dedicated Event Manager ensuring their events run smoothly, to our inspiring learning environments. Many of our guests are wowed by our versatile, state of the art facilities. Delegates also love our delicious food which is prepared right here in our venues by our award winning chef’s.
Our location itself is also appreciated by many of our guests. Set within 700 acres of rural parkland and surrounded by lakes and relaxing outdoor spaces, the university campus also offers a wide range of bars, cafes, restaurants, as well as a comprehensive collection of sports facilities, including swimming, gym, climbing wall, squash and tennis. There is also plenty waiting to be explored close to our central location, including the historic towns of Stratford –upon-Avon and Warwick.
What is one fact buyers or event planners should now about Warwick Conferences?
Whether your needs are complex or simple, extravagant or modest; anything is possible.
We offer a vast range of flexible meeting facilities for 2 - 1,200 delegates. With a range of spaces to choose from, you can present to up to 130 people in our tiered lecture theatre or use one of our creative meeting spaces for a more homely, relaxed environment.
Our newest venue, The Slate has a lakeside view, BREEAM Architecture and is adorned with a glass façade, one of only 10 of its type in the UK. For larger events up to 1,200, Warwick Conferences uses the eclectic and extraordinary spaces available within the University of Warwick itself - including one of the largest Arts Centres outside of London.
What is your favourite thing about being a part of the current IVR programme?
The programme gives us the opportunity to connect with a wide range of agencies from all over the UK. It provide us with a powerful platform to showcase our venue and build relationships with buyers we may have otherwise not met. The events have helped us strengthen our brand and raise our profile.
At CHS, we champion independent venues with the IVR programme. What do you personally think are the benefits of an event planner teaming up with an independent venue?
As an independent venue we are able to provide dedicated account management and take a consultative approach. We strive to build good relationships and rapport with our customers, meaning we are able to understand and meet their needs.
We understand that conference, training and meeting needs are changing. Serving them involves a fundamental shift: delivering an experience rather than a space and having a view about the world we operate in. We do both.
Also, we understand the industry and the state of the events market as well as our customers and delegates needs.
