Think of the last time you stayed at a hotel, whether it was on holiday or for a business trip. What made you choose that one? More often than not, it was from either reading glowing reviews online or a personal recommendation from someone you know and trust. Social proof is one of the most powerful marketing tools and also one of the quickest way to boost your hotel’s revenue.
The great news is that it’s not at all difficult or time-consuming to add social proof into your current marketing strategies!
Read on for our top three strategies to show off your social proof and get more people through the doors faster.
1. Ask for testimonials from your past clients.
Nothing says you’re trustworthy like a glowing testimonial from a past client, especially from someone that is respected in the events industry. Take a look at your past client base for corporate events and reach out to them asking if they can provide a short testimonial for your hotel!
Bonus points if they let you use their photo as this will add even more trust to their testimonial.
If you’re having a hard time getting responses back for testimonials, offer a reward in exchange. These could be things like discounted room rates for their next event.
2. Show off your impressive star ratings.
Did you know that 85% of people trust online reviews as much as they do a personal recommendation from someone they know? (BrightLocal). Star ratings are the go-to when it comes to online reviews for hotels and you should be showing yours off at every chance you can.
You can embed your Yelp and TripAdvisor reviews to display on your website using simple code. The instructions for embedding Yelp reviews can be found here.

Another perk of displaying your star ratings on your website is that it ensures Google will show them off in the search results under your hotel name. It can make a massive difference in how many people click through on your link as opposed to another hotel in the search results.
Even if the reviews aren’t focused on your corporate events, it’s still a great idea to display them as things like guest experience, cleanliness, room decor and food are still essential factors to event managers when deciding where to host their next event.
3. Include real numbers in your social media marketing.
One of the best ways to show off social proof is through your social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram.
You can share your newly acquired testimonials by making simple graphics on Canva (a free and easy design tool with loads of templates!) and sharing them across your social accounts!
You can also talk about any industry awards you have won and include the award badges in your cover photo on Twitter, LinkedIn & Facebook.
In your social media bios you should include any impressive figures about your business such as how many years you have been in business, how many guests or events you have hosted or the outstanding number of 5-star reviews you have received!
After implementing these three strategies to your marketing plan, you should be well on your way to getting more reservations and corporate events booked.
