The number one goal of running a successful event is to make sure that your attendees are happy. After all, without your attendees, your event wouldn’t exist. We have four tips for you on how to keep your event attendees happy (with our own examples from the annual Conference & Hospitality Show!) so that they keep coming back to you for more.
1. Ask them how their experience was at your last event
… and put their suggestions/complaints into action for the next one! Asking for feedback after an event through a survey or poll shows your attendees that you respect their opinion and care about how their experience was. You also get a first-hand account at what you can do next time to make their experience even better. Keep note of their suggestions, compliments and complaints when you’re planning your next event and actually implement them!
After CHS18 last year, we send out feedback forms to hear your say on what you thought of the event. Your responses have been incredibly valuable to us since it’s helped us plan our 10th anniversary CHS19 this year with your wants and needs in mind.
2. Offer freebies
Who doesn’t love free stuff? What’s that saying again… free food always tastes better? One certain way to make your event attendees love your event is by offering freebies! It doesn’t have to break the bank - if you’re working on a tight budget, you can get sponsors to deliver the free goodies, or you can give out something small but useful (like a branded water bottle).
This year at CHS19, we’re giving out free VIP gift bags, a free lunch, a fun after party and more. Not to mention the ticket to the actual show is free too… (P.S. Register for your free VIP ticket here.)
3. Give them opportunities to chill out at the event
Events are hectic and exciting, but also very exhausting. There’s so much going on and so much walking around to do all day. Your attendees will appreciate you so much if you give them easy opportunities to chill out and put their feet up throughout the day.
We’re hosting Industry Meetups at CHS19 where people can chill out and have a drink while mingling with their fellow industry profs.
4. Be hospitable
Treat your attendees like the kings and queens they are and give them the royal treatment. That means going above and beyond what’s expected and thinking of creative ways to make your attendees’ experiences easier, more relaxing, more convenient, etc.
A few exhibitions, including our own CHS19, offer Hosted Buyer programme where they will offer free hotel stays for the night before the event for anyone who lives far away from the city it’s being hosted in. Having a Hosted Buyer programme is an excellent way to get more out-of-town people to your event and it also makes their lives easier when they don’t have to struggle with getting there and then finding a place to stay on top of that.
So, there you have it! Our four tips on how to make your event attendees happy so they will keep coming back to your events in the future. Tweet us at @chs_group if you have a tip of your own you would like to share.
