How to Stay Energised The Full Day at CHS19

We’re continuing on with our series on how to make the most of CHS19 on the 30th of April with this guide on how to stay energised throughout the day. We have lots planned for you to celebrate our 10th anniversary Conference & Hospitality Show, for both the event profs and venue profs attending the show. There are so many exciting things happening throughout the day and you will definitely want to make sure you’re at peak energy level to fully experience them.

Here are 6 ideas for you to get your energy going and staying, long past closing time.

 1. Drink lots of water

Most of the time when we feel sluggish in the middle of the day, it’s because we’re dehydrated. Drinking lots of water will keep you feeling energised, alert and focused - three key things you will need to be during a long day of networking.

Keep a large water bottle with you at all times and make sure you keep filling it up when it’s empty! It’s easy to forget about it when you’re so busy, but it’s essential to keep your energy lifted for a long time.


2. Take regular breaks

With so many things happening, it’s tempting to be go, go, go all the time at CHS19, but you need some breaks throughout the day! They don’t have to be long - 5 to 10 minutes will enough to re-energize you. We will have lots of areas set up around the arena that will be perfect for you to stop, sit down for a little bit and re-group. Sit down and take a few breaths, maybe have a snack or drink more water!


3. Don’t skip breakfast

There is nothing worse than getting distracted by the hunger pangs when you’re trying to have a fun day, so don’t skip breakfast! A protein-rich breakfast will give you the boost of energy you need first thing in the morning, and adding fibre to your meal will keep you full until lunch. A breakfast such as porridge or an omelette would be the perfect choice.


 4. Get a good night’s sleep

Aim for 7-8 hours of solid sleep the night before to make sure you’re well-rested enough for the big day. I’m sure you know already all about the importance of sleep, but that’s something we all too easily brush aside. Since we’re starting bright and early at 9am (and the hotel profs have a call time much earlier than that), try to get to bed by 10pm for a well-rested attitude the next day.


 5. Start with a morning walk

Exercise and fresh air are both proven to boost and maintain your energy levels throughout the day. Take a brisk walk in the morning before you head to First Direct Arena - it’s also a great opportunity to check out the great city of Leeds too. 6. Avoid too much coffee

As the saying goes, what goes up must go down. Coffee might give you the initial boost you need to get going, but you will crash hard if you keep re-filling your cup. Stick with just one coffee in the morning to get you going if you normally drink it, but try to re-energise during the day with water (see tip #1).
